Short-term courses for the staff of the archives of the Russian Orthodox Church will be held at the Church Postgraduate and Doctorate School on October 9-18. 2012, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. The courses are organized together with the Russian State University for the Humanities and the State Archive of the Russian Federation.
The participants in the courses will be introduced to the history of archiving in Russia and in the Russian Orthodox Church, the present state of archiving in the country, and practical records-management. Excursions to the Moscow major archives will be held, reports the website of the Postgraduate School.
Lectures will be delivered by professors and teachers of the History and Archive Institute of the Russian State University for the Humanities (RGGU), staff members of the State Archive of the Russian Federation, and experts in church archives.
Those invited to take part in the courses are staff members of the diocesan administration in charge of archives, mostly from the newly established dioceses of the Russian Orthodox Churches, and staff members of the records-management of the Moscow Patriarchate.
The participants will receive certificates of professional development from the RGGU and from the Church Postgraduate School.
