An Orthodox youth work summer camp has begun to function since August 1, 2012, in Thailand. This year, young people mostly from Thailand, Cambodia and Laos are being hosted by the Parish of the Trinity in Phuket. Those who wish also have an opportunity to work at the Monastery of the Assumption in Ratchaburi, the website of the Orthodox Church in Thailand reports.
During a ten-day shift, the participants will not only enjoy the sea and the mountains but also perform various work tasks. Thus, in Phuket they will be engaged in the improvement of the church’s territory and in the monastery to work in the garden and to plant trees.
Every day in the camp begins and ends with a divine service in the church. It is the first experience of this kind in the church community in Thailand. For this reason, the Russian Orthodox Church’s representative in the country, Archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin), has arrived in Phuket Island to meet the youth and see the conditions in which they live and work.
