Iran’s Secretary General of World Assembly of Islamic Religious Proximity has said that Islam and Orthodox Christianity talks have made Iran and Russia close to each other.
Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri in a meeting with Archbishop Hilarion, head of foreign relations office of Russian Orthodox Church, on the sidelines of the 8th round of Islam and Orthodox Christianity talks on Tuesday said that he considers his participation in this round of talks very valuable.
He added, ‘There is a special closeness between Shia and Orthodox Christianity and we found out this reality in the recent years when we are so close to each other.’
The 8th round of talks between Islam and Russian Orthodox Christianity started its work on Tuesday and will continue until Wednesday.
