On 6 March 2012, protopresbyter Konstantin Tivetsky, the senior cleric by ordination of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, was buried in Los Angeles.
Fr Konstantin was born in 1925. He graduated from the Odessa Theological Seminary and the recently re-opened Moscow Theological Academy. Among his classmates at the Academy were the future archimandrite Ioann (Krestiankin) and Metropolitan Pitirim (Nechaev) of Volokolamsk and Yuriev.
He was ordained priest in 1948 and served the Holy Church for sixty-three years and took pastoral care of many parishes in Russia. He was a priest at the Moscow Church of St Nicholas in Khamovniki, at the Church of Sts Boris and Gleb in Ryazan, at the Moscow Patriarchal Cathedral of the Epiphany in Yelokhovo,at the Holy Trinity Church in Alexandrov, Vladimir diocese, and at the Moscow Church of All Saints in Sokol.
After coming to the USA in 1980, Fr Konstantin served at various churches of the Western America diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, including the Cathedral of St Nicholas in Seattle, the Church of the Intercession and the Holy Transfiguration Church in Los-Angeles. He served at the Holy Transfiguration Church until his death.
Bishop Theodosius of Seattle officiated at the requiem service for Fr Konstantin. Concelebrating were archpriests Alexander Lebedev, Stefan Pavlenko and Petr Perekrestov, rectors and clerics of all Orthodox churches in Los Angeles. Many worshippers came to bid farewell to protopresbyter Konstantin.
Fr Konstantin was buried at the Hollywood Cemetery in Los Angeles.
