As part of the Higher Institute of Ecumenical Studies (ISEO) a course on the Septuagint, the ancient Greek translation of the Old Testament, will be held at the Orthodox Institute of Saint Sergius, Paris.
The seminar is given by three voices, Valerie Duval-Poujol (Protestant, teaching at the Catholic Institute of Paris), Christophe Raimbault (a Catholic priest and teacher at the Catholic Institute of Paris) and Mr Stefan Munteanu (Orthodox, teaching at the Orthodox Institute of St Sergius). The seminar is intended primarily for students of master of theology.
The Greek translation of the Old Testament (written in Hebrew) was the Bible of Jews and Christians over many centuries. More than just a simple document-witness of the past, the seminar will seek to identify its contributions and topicality in the Christian denominations: Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant, alternating between lectures and practical contribution of reference texts: biblical, patristic and liturgical.
