Memory of Patriarch Alexey II honoured

Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has honoured the memory of his predecessor Patriarch Alexey II by holding a requiem service at Alexey’s tomb in Moscow.
He said that Alexey II “carried the holy burden of his patriarchal duties at a very difficult time”.
The greatest achievement of the patriarch who died 3 years ago was the unification of the Moscow Patriarchate and the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia which took place in 2007.
