Родился в Канаде в 1946 г. В 1976 г. вступил в "Общество Иисуса".
В 1969 получил бакалаврскую степень в Колледже И. Лойолы Университета Монреаля, в 1974 г. получил магистерскую степень в Университете Южного Иллиноиса.
В 1984 г. был рукоположен в сан священника.
В 1984 г. получил магистерскую степень по богословию в Университете Торонто.
В 1992 г. защитил докторскую диссертацию в Папском Грегорианском университете.
