В 2000 г. получила бакалаврскую степень по богословию в Оксфордском университете. В 2002 г. получила магистерскую степень по богословию в Йельской богословской школе, затем в 2004 г. получила вторую магистерскую степень в Университете Йеля по библеистике. В 2008 г. там же защитила докторскую диссертацию (PhD).
За монографию The Other Christs: Imitating Jesus in Ancient Christian Ideologies of Martyrdom получила премию Темплтоновского фонда.
