Родился в 1956 г. в Осиеке (б. Югославия).

Получил бакалаврскую степень по богословию на Евангелическо-богословском факультете в Загребе. Затем переехал в США, где получил сначала магистерскую степень по богословию в Fuller Theological Seminary (Пасадема, Калифорния). 

Докторскую степень (PhD) и хабилитацию получил в Университете Тюбингема под руководством Юргена Мольтмана.

Книга Вольфа "Exclusion and Embrace" попала в список 100 лучших богословских трудов по версии Christianity Today.

В настоящее время Вольф занимает именную профессорскую кафедру в Йельской богословской школе - кафедра им. Херни Райта.
