A new modern clinical ophthalmology and ENT Center was inaugurated in Tirana on Saturday, March 10, by the Archbishop of the Orthodox Church of Albania, Anastasios. Participating in this event were renowned doctors from our country and from Greece.
The Center includes general ophthalmology branches; for the retina, for glaucoma, laser, OCT etc., and a wide range of otorhinolaryngology examinations. This Center operates in a three-story building purchased specifically for this purpose, and it further extends the activities of the Medical Diagnostic Centre "Evangelization" of Tirana, which has been operating since 1999 in a seven-story building next door.
This Center provides service for 23 medical specialties, and is staffed by outstanding physicians and their specialized nursing personnel. It has been equipped with medical equipment with the latest technology which is used with a very high degree of professionalism.
More than three million euros, obtained from various donations solicited by Archbishop Anastasios, were spent for the first-rate renovation of the building and purchase of modern equipment.
During the past 12 years this Center, has been visited by about 1,300,000 patients, regardless of their faith and more than 3,000,000 laboratory tests have been conducted.
The Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania has established four other centers for the primary medical services in: Kavaja, Lushnje, Korcë and Jergucat.
